What is the difference between diagonal and straight rotation?
The Diagonal option tilts the watermark text at approximately 45 degrees across the page โ€” the classic style associated with official stamps like CONFIDENTIAL, VOID, or SAMPLE. This orientation is visually prominent across the full page and harder to edit out. Straight (horizontal) watermarks suit copyright footers, document version labels, or branded headers where the text needs to be read naturally without tilting the head. The choice depends on whether the watermark is a security marker (diagonal) or an informational label (straight).
Is my document uploaded to a server when I add a watermark?
No. Watermarking runs completely in your browser using pdf-lib, a pure JavaScript PDF library. Your PDF is loaded from your local device into browser memory, modified in-memory, and the watermarked copy is downloaded directly to your device โ€” no part of your file is ever transmitted over the internet.
